Sisterhood and Alex's Message

I am a Delta Zeta (lambda sigma are my girls!) and if there is one thing that sisterhood has taught me, it is love. Not just any kind of love, but, unconditional love. The idea of loving girls before you really get to know them, just because they are your sisters, trusting other sisters to love you just because you are their sisters, loving new babies before you know them because they want to be sisters and treating them as such. You don't get to always pick your sisters, just like you don't get to pick your real family and so there is a bond there that is really deep. Even if you don't really like a girl, she is your sister and so you are called to look past what you don't like or her flaws and to be a friend to her and to love her, no matter what. We are expected to uphold a level of commitment to one another and it is not just the girls at my chapter but Delta Zetas all over the world. We have this connection with every DZ past, present and future and we love one another and are loyal to one another just because we call each other sister. We are a part of something so much bigger than ourselves and that is really cool.

With all of that being said, one of my sisters needs help. Just a few weeks ago she was diagnosed with MS and true to her character she is working hard to raise money and awareness to fight not only this condition that she has but for everyone who has to live with MS. Since I now have regular readers from 9 different states and friends all over the country and this world I am asking you to help me pass along Alex's message:

Dear Family and Friends,

As most of you know, I was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. In such a short time it has already changed my life (Please visit my personal page for more details). I have decided that this disease will not break me, but will only make me stronger and will give me another avenue in which I can make an impact on the world... But I need all of your help! Because I love to get involved, even though it is very last minute, I will be participating in Charlotte's 2010 MS Walk on May15th. Please help support me and such an amazing cause. This is all very new and scary for me but I plan on facing it head on and I am asking each of you to help me get started!

Every hour of every day, someone is diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Statistics like this one have inspired me to create an online fund; and I'd like you to consider donating to it.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to ending the devastating effects of MS but they can't do it without our help. It's faster and easier than ever to support this cause that's so important to me. Simply click on the link at the bottom of this message.

Any amount, great or small, helps to make a difference in the lives of people with MS. Help me make a difference. Help me fight for a better tomorrow.

Thank you for your support!

Please consider showing some unconditional love to support not just my sister, but for all of those with MS. To learn more about Multiple Sclerosis and what you can do to help fight it or to donate, check out Alex's website at:

Multiple Sclerosis really does effect a lot of people. I am [almost] 21 years old and I know 4 different people who are dealing with this disease and I'm sure you might know someone too. We all live on this planet together, like a family and so we need to show unconditional love to one another no matter who or where they are and help them out just for the sake of being there to help them, no matter what battle it is that they are fighting.
